The reality is most people exercise without getting the basics right. Often we see a new client who has been running for years and could easily run 15km. However when we have them to do a ‘single leg stability test’ the knee drops in indicating insuffiecient hip stability which is crucial in preventing injury and maximising performance. If this is the case whilst standing still, imagine the stress on the knee during running!
This is a perfect example of when someone is using the wrong muscles to run, probably carrying injuries and at a guess spending a heap of money on physio or chiro’s. Pain is your body’s way of saying “something is wrong” and the stubborn athlete often ignores this.
